Aegeates, John

Aegeates, John a Nestorian priest, lived, according to Vossius, about 483; but Cave thinks that he lived some years later, as he continued his history five books after the deposition of Peter the Fuller. This was an Ecclesiastical History from the reign of Theodosius the Younger, and ending with the deposition of Peter the Fuller (q.v.). There is only a fragment of this work extant, in the Concilia, vol. 7, and in the collections of Theodorus Lector. He wrote, also, a treatise against the Council of Chalcedon.
