Adhem one of the most ancient Mohamnimedan Quietists, who is said to have obtained in one of his visions the high privilege of having his name written by an angel among those who love God. Among his extravagant expressions. are the following: "Hell is preferable with the will of God to heaven without it." "I would rather go to hell doing the will of God than go to heaven disobeying him." Mohammedan mystics often resort to such statements to show their high regard for the deity.
