Adams, Eliphalet

Adams, Eliphalet an eminent Congregational minister, was born at Dedham, Mass., March 26, 1677, and graduated at Harvard College in 1694. After preaching in various places for ten years without settlement, he was ordained pastor of the church in New London, Conn., February, 1709, and died April, 1753. He was a man of learning, and was very much interested in the Indians, whose language he had acquired. He published a number of occasional sermons. Alien, Amer. Biog.; Sprague, Annals, 1, 234.
