Acosta, Gabriel (2)

Acosta, Gabriel a Roman Catholic divine of the latter part of the 16th century, was born at Torres Vedras. He was educated at Coimbra; succeeded Luis Sotomayor as professor of theology, and was shortly after made a canon. He died in 1616. He left Commentaries on Genesis 49, Ruth, Lamentations, Jonah, and Malachi (Lyons, 1641). — Landon, Eccles. Dict. s.v.
